Kate Beckel

Kate Beckel – PYP San Diego CA

Trainer, Chapter Director (San Diego)

Kate Beckel, M.Ed, E-RYT-200, YACEP, RCYT, began working with PYP in 2015, teaching somatic movement classes for youth and adults involved with the criminal justice system in San Diego, California. She has 12 years of experience as a yoga teacher, and since 2014 has been training as a Somatic Experiencing(SE) practitioner. SE is a neurobiological, body-oriented approach to therapy that can help people metabolise stress and trauma. In 2019, Kate became a fully certified SE practitioner. Currently, she facilitates trainings and workshops in trauma-informed, healing-centered yoga as well as yoga for children and teens.

Kate is an educator in an elementary school, where she incorporates yoga and mindfulness to increase physical, emotional, cognitive and social-emotional wellness in the classroom. Through both personal experience and her work, Kate strongly believes in the impact of somatic practices in healing trauma, helping reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and increasing resilience.
