Vanessa “Nechi” Gutierrez

Vanessa Gutierrez – PYP New York

500 CYT, joined PYP in 2019, teaching trauma-informed yoga classes for adults in the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MDC) in New York City.  Vanessa’s work is focused on reconnecting the mind, body, and soul through yoga.  Her study of generational trauma and the impacts of trauma informs her commitment to anti-violence work through a social justice lens. Vanessa has a holistic approach to wellness and has long experience working with children and adults to integrate a yoga practice with other methodologies, including meditation and naturopathy.  Vanessa is committed to promoting awareness and knowledge around lifestyle choices that are free of cruelty, exploitation, and environmental damage.  She advocates against fast fashion and, as a personal chef, helps clients adopt vegan and other ethical diets that support regenerative agriculture. Vanessa is bilingual in English and Spanish.
